MAZDA RX-7
Hello all, car
lovers. Today we're talking about a monster car
that many JDM lovers are addicted
to. The Mazda RX-7, which has been featured in many movies, has become the
dream car of many people. The Mazda RX-7 is the sports car produced by Japanese
vehicle manufacturer Mazda between 1978 and 2002. The RX-7 replaced the RX-3 in
the market and was replaced by the RX-8 in 2003. Wankel engine was used in its
production and less than 1,000,000 were produced.
The RX-7 is a two-door sports coupe. The design of the vehicle, which was sold only with this body type, was so far ahead of its time that the model managed to remain in the market for 11 years. The RX-7's infrastructure was borrowed from Mazda's F platform, exclusive to rear-wheel-drive sports cars.
The unit under
the hood, coded 13B-REW, had the title of being the first serial production
inline twin-turbo engine exported from Japan. The engine, which produced 255 hp
between 1992 and 1995, was able to increase these values to 265 hp (1996 -
1998) and 280 hp (1999 - 2002) over time. The transmission options offered were
5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
Just behind the front axle of the RX-7 is the dual-rotor, 1.3-liter Wankel engine with 255
horsepower and 294 Nm torque. Although these values seem like the engine
powers you can have even in a mid-segment car today, it was quite competitive
in a sports car class in the early nineties.
With a weight of
just over 1.3 tons, the RX-7 was quite enough for a daily use sports car you
could have in those days, with a maximum speed of 251 km / h and a 0-100 speed
in 5.1 seconds. (
